Basketball Recap: Cadott Gets the Win

If Gilman wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Cadott, they should've done a better job of containing Taylor Hager. The Cadott Hornets managed a 61-55 win over the Gilman Pirates on Thursday for which the team can thank Hager, who went 7-for-15 to rack up 19 points in addition to six assists and six boards. She also grabbed five steals, which is notable because Cadott is 7-2 when she posts at least five steals, but 3-12 otherwise.

Mckenna Steinke was another key player, putting up six points and seven rebounds. Those seven boards gave her a new career-high.

Gilman lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kayleigh James, who posted 14 points and five steals. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Allie Olynick, who earned 16 points and five rebounds.

Cadott's victory bumped their record up to 10-14. As for Gilman, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season.

Cadott wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 54-21 win against Abbotsford on the 25th. As for Gilman, they have also already played their next game, a 63-19 victory against Lake Holcombe on the 25th.
