Basketball Game Preview: Sheridan Blackhawks vs. Tipton Blue Devils

Sheridan hasn't had much luck against Tipton recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Sheridan Blackhawks will take on the Tipton Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Sheridan's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 14 contests.

Sheridan barely beat Waldron the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Sheridan was the clear victors by a 67-45 margin over Waldron on Friday. The Blackhawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Sheridan found their leader in sophomore Trey Page, who shot 58% from beyond the arc en route to 30 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Page has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Wright, who went 7-for-14 to rack up 17 points and seven assists.

Sheridan was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Waldron only nine assists.

Meanwhile, Tipton had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 41-31 win over Taylor on Tuesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Blue Devils, who have now won six games in a row.

Sheridan better keep an eye on Grady Carpenter. He was instrumental in Tipton's win, dropping a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds. The contest was Carpenter's 11th in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Sam Quigley, who posted ten points and six boards.

Sheridan has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points over those games. Tipton's win bumped their record up to 17-6.

Sheridan took a serious blow against Tipton in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, falling 79-41. Can Sheridan avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
