Basketball Preview: Camden County Wildcats vs. Valdosta Wildcats
After two games on the road, Camden County is heading back home. They will take on the Valdosta Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Camden County is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Wildcats in Georgia (the Wildcats are ranked 27th, while the Wildcats are ranked 88th).
Last Tuesday, Camden County was able to grind out a solid win over the Wildcats, taking the game 44-36.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Camden County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Akeelah Bryan, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. Bryan is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. Taylor Rietveld was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Valdosta's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They were outmatched by Colquitt County at home and fell 77-48.
Camden County's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Valdosta, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-10.
Camden County was able to grind out a solid win over the Wildcats in their previous meeting back in January, winning 55-46. Will Camden County repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
