Football Recap: Mitchell Takes a Loss

Mitchell played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 30-6 to the Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering Phoenix. The game marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Raoul Jones threw for 70 yards on five of 23 attempts. Lawrence Butler was his top target, picking up 35 receiving yards. On the ground, Danthony Gales rushed for 32 yards.

Mitchell's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-3. As for Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season.

Mitchell will head out on the road to square off against Hillcrest at 7:00 p.m. on the 3rd. As for Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering, they will square off against Sheffield on Thursday. The Phoenix will be up against the Knights' rather soft defense (which has allowed 49.2 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
