Preview: Meadowbrook Academy Mustangs vs. Cornerstone Academy Cougars
Meadowbrook Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Cornerstone Academy Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Cornerstone Academy took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Meadowbrook Academy, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Meadowbrook Academy's game was all tied up 21-21 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They blew past Countryside Christian 58-28 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Meadowbrook Academy has posted against Countryside Christian since January 28, 2019.
Meadowbrook Academy can attribute much of their success to Gaige Daugherty, who scored ten points along with eight steals and six rebounds, and Tico Smith, who scored 23 points along with five steals. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least a third of Meadowbrook Academy's points. Orion Grayer was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Cornerstone Academy suffered their biggest defeat since November 30, 2023 on Monday. Their tough 71-47 defeat to HEART HomeSchool might stick with them for a while. That's two games in a row now that Cornerstone Academy has lost by exactly 24 points.
Meadowbrook Academy is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Cornerstone Academy, they bumped their record down to 1-8 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight at home.
Meadowbrook Academy came up short against Cornerstone Academy when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 52-46. Can Meadowbrook Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
