Basketball Recap: Addie Knowles' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Meeker over Roaring Fork

Meeker was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 66-52 bruising from the Roaring Fork Rams. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 72-44 back in January.

Several Cowboys players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Addie Knowles, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds. Knowles is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Kayla Castillo was another key player, going 7-for-17 on her way to 18 points and three steals.

Roaring Fork was led to victory by Riley Bevington and Nikki Tardif. Bevington dropped a double-double with 26 points and 12 boards, while Tardif dropped a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. With that strong performance, Tardif is now averaging an impressive 8 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Carley Crownhart, who posted nine points and five assists.

Meeker now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Roaring Fork, their victory was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Meeker will take on Cedaredge at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Cedaredge will roll in looking for their 18th straight win, something Meeker surely won't give up without a fight. As for Roaring Fork, they will welcome Grand Valley at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Roaring Fork is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.6 points per game this season.
