 After a string of 21 wins, the Gatlinburg-Pittman Highlanders's good fortune finally ran out  on Tuesday. They fell just short of Alcoa by a score of  53-50. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Gatlinburg-Pittman came into the  match with a sizable advantage  in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings  (they are ranked sixth, while Alcoa is ranked 60th).
 Several Highlanders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was   Maddy Newman, who  scored 19 points along with two  blocks. Newman is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's  now  scored 16 or more in the last 24 games she's  played.  Nya Burns was another key contributor,  scoring 13 points.
 Gatlinburg-Pittman's loss  ended a eight-game streak of away wins  and  brought them to 29-3. As for Alcoa, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.
 Gatlinburg-Pittman will be playing at home against Chuckey-Doak at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Gatlinburg-Pittman is coming into the  match with 12 straight  defeats at home,  meaning Chuckey-Doak will have to defend against a  team hungry for a  win. Alcoa will take on Happy Valley at TBD on Friday.
