Basketball Recap: Brookwood Panthers vs. Hueytown Golden Gophers
The Brookwood Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their eighth straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Hueytown, falling 80-39. Brookwood has not had much luck with the Golden Gophers recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Brookwood lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dayton Dixon. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points. That was a full 41% of Brookwood's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Leland Foster was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Braylon Patton was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points for Hueytown. Another player making a difference was Trip Harris, who scored 12 points.
Brookwood has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-24 record this season. As for Hueytown, they pushed their record up to 16-14 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
