Basketball Recap: West Charlotte Lions vs. North Mecklenburg Vikings

If West Charlotte was riding high fresh off their 59-29 takedown of Chambers last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The West Charlotte Lions had to suffer through an 80-36 loss at the hands of the North Mecklenburg Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Vikings are ranked tenth).

Despite the loss, West Charlotte saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bri'Asia Rowe went 6-for-13 en route to 15 points in addition to eight boards and three blocks. Rowe is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played.

North Mecklenburg found their leader in sophomore Lenise Joseph, who dropped a double-double with 32 points and 15 boards. What's more, Joseph also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Morgan Knox was another key player, going 6-for-9 to rack up 12 points and three steals.

West Charlotte's defeat dropped their record down to 15-7. As for North Mecklenburg, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 21-2.

As of now, neither West Charlotte nor North Mecklenburg have any future games scheduled.
