Volleyball Recap: Bloomington North Cougars vs. Whiteland Warriors
Bloomington North was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Whiteland Warriors. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2018.
Bloomington North started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 23-25, 25-15, 25-16, 15-10.
Whiteland was led to victory by Lilly Brown and Maddie Planck. Brown had 17 digs and five aces, while Planck had 20 assists and four digs. With that strong performance, Brown is now averaging an impressive 10.7 digs per game. Adriane Gieseking also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Bloomington North's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Whiteland, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bloomington North will head out to take on Columbus North at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Whiteland, they will venture away from home to square off against Decatur Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
