Basketball Game Preview: Western Wildcats vs. Cypress Bay Lightning

The Western Wildcats will face off against the Cypress Bay Lightning at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Western will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Piper, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Western put the hurt on Piper with a sharp 47-27 win on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Cypress Bay walked away with it. They claimed a resounding 64-7 victory over the Trojans. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Lightning considering their 20-point performance the game before.

Western has also been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.1 points per game. As for Cypress Bay, their win bumped their record up to 17-5.

Western came up short against Cypress Bay when the teams last played back in January, falling 50-44. Can Western avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
