Softball Recap: Masconomet Regional Comes Up Short

Masconomet Regional was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Haverhill Hillies, falling 16-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Chieftains have suffered against the Hillies since May 25, 2017.

Angie Vecchio made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season. Charlotte Leiss was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Masconomet Regional's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Haverhill, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Masconomet Regional will head out to face off against Saugus at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Haverhill, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Dracut at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
