            Softball Recap: Powell Panthers vs. Gibbs Eagles        
        
		
        
        
            If Powell was feeling good  fresh off their  12-1 takedown of Carter on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers came up short against  the Gibbs Eagles on Wednesday, falling  9-2. The Panthers have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.
 Powell saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Jaylan Heatherly, who  went 1-for-3 with one  run.
Powell's defeat dropped their record down to 19-9. As for Gibbs, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won 15 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 30-3 record  this season.
 Powell and Gibbs should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage  in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. The Panthers will  square off against  Oak Ridge  at 5:30  p.m.  on Friday with a big rank  advantage  (41 vs. 210). Meanwhile,  Gibbs (ranked third) will meet Clinton (ranked 74th)  at 6:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average (the Eagles 2.3, the Dragons 3.5) so any  runs scored will be well earned.
