Preview: Trumbull Eagles vs. Greenwich Cardinals

Trumbull is 1-7 against Greenwich since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Trumbull Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Greenwich Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Trumbull got the win against Warde by a conclusive 35-13. The win made it back-to-back wins for Trumbull.

Rowan Johnston continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 220 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Johnston's longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. Jake Hull made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Meanwhile, Greenwich put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their undefeated season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 30-14 victory over Darien. Greenwich pushed the score to 30-7 by the end of the third, a deficit Darien cut but never quite recovered from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Greenwich to victory, but perhaps none more so than George Vomvolakis, who rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Another player making a difference was Rocco Grillo, who threw for 186 yards and two touchdowns.

Trumbull now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Greenwich, their victory was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 5-0.

Trumbull came up short against Greenwich in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 37-24. Will Trumbull have more luck at home instead of on the road?
