Softball Recap: St. Monica Comes Up Short

After flying high against Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary last Tuesday, St. Monica came back down to earth. St. Monica lost 12-3 to the Venice Gondoliers on Wednesday. If the Mariners were looking for revenge after losing 8-3 to the Gondoliers when the teams met back in March of 2015, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Savanna Hernandez and Ali Vogler stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hernandez scored two runs while going 1-for-3, while Vogler scored a run while going 1-for-4.

St. Monica now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Venice, the win keeps they at an undefeated 5-0.

Coming up, St. Monica will welcome Serra at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Venice, they are taking a road trip to challenge Palisades at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Venice's pitchers better be ready for this one: Palisades has averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season.
