Basketball Game Preview: Throckmorton Greyhounds vs. Hermleigh Cardinals

The Throckmorton Greyhounds will take on the Hermleigh Cardinals in a holiday battle at at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Throckmorton has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with 22 straight defeats, while Hermleigh will come in with three straight victories.

Throckmorton is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Guthrie on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Throckmorton was beaten by Guthrie 74-34. The Greyhounds were down 54-24 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Hermleigh challenged Rising Star on Tuesday. Hermleigh came out on top against Rising Star by a score of 46-33.

Hermleigh is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Throckmorton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Throckmorton took a serious blow against Hermleigh in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 68-15. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Throckmorton was down 38-7.
