Basketball Recap: Chatham Charter Falls Despite Big Games from Gabe Mckoy and Brennan Lavelle

Chatham Charter lost against Southern Wake Academy two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The game between the Chatham Charter Knights and the Southern Wake Academy Lions didn't end well, with the Chatham Charter Knights falling 56-38. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 349th, while the Lions are ranked 126th).

Brennan LaVelle and Gabe McKoy certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. LaVelle almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds, while McKoy posted eight points along with five assists and four steals. The dominant performance also gave McKoy a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Breylan Harris, who earned four points.

Chatham Charter's loss dropped their record down to 19-10. As for Southern Wake Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season.

As of now, neither Chatham Charter nor Southern Wake Academy have any future games scheduled.
