Basketball Recap: North East Carolina Prep Comes Up Short

North East Carolina Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 22nd straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 60-11 loss at the hands of the Washington County Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Husky can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 616th, while the Panthers are ranked 282nd).

Washington County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aaliyah Carter, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine steals. Carter is becoming a predictor of Washington County's success: when she posts at least five steals the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Ke'Myia Young, who went 10 of 15 en route to 20 points and eight boards.

North East Carolina Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 0-21. As for Washington County, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.

North East Carolina Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 49-10 loss against Bertie on the 5th. As for Washington County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 71-50 defeat against Martin County on the 5th.
