Baseball Game Preview: William Penn Bearcats vs. York County Tech Spartans

The William Penn Bearcats will head out on the road to challenge the York County Tech Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. William Penn will be strutting in after a win while York County Tech will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, William Penn turned things around against Steelton-Highspire on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Steamrollers with a sharp 19-3 victory.

Jhemsen Vazques was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Roosevert Ramos was another key player, going 1-for-2 with four RBI and two runs.

William Penn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Steelton-Highspire only posted an OBP of .350.

Meanwhile, York County Tech was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 8-4 to Littlestown.

York County Tech saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Quickle, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that Quickle has snagged this season. Another was Russel Casner, who earned one run and two stolen bases.

York County Tech's loss dropped their record down to 1-3-1. As for William Penn, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-5.

William Penn might still be hurting after the 18-3 defeat they got from York County Tech in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Bearcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
