Preview: Wood Wildcats vs. Woodcreek Timberwolves

Wood has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. The Wood Wildcats and the Woodcreek Timberwolves will round out the year against one another at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday at. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Thursday, Wood beat Tokay 65-56.

Meanwhile, Woodcreek entered their tilt with Del Campo with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Woodcreek came out on top against Del Campo by a score of 68-58 on Thursday. Given Woodcreek's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while Del Campo is ranked 801st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Woodcreek got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Max VanLaningham out in front who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Dennie, who scored eight points.

Wood's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Woodcreek, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Wood was taken down by Woodcreek 74-45 in their previous meeting back in December of 2014. Can Wood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
