Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Calvary Christian

While Calvary Christian didn't have the best season last year (they finished 13-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Ludlow Panthers on Tuesday. With that victory, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 7.6 runs per game.

Josh Ruwe made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits (and only one walk). Ruwe was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adam Curtis, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Finn Zachary, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Calvary Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ludlow only posted a batting average of .211.

The win (which was Calvary Christian's third in a row) raised their record to 4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Ludlow, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Looking ahead, Calvary Christian will take on Dayton at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Calvary Christian is facing Dayton at the right time seeing as Dayton is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Ludlow, they will challenge Heritage Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Heritage Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Ludlow's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
