Basketball Recap: Kaymbree Henry's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Layton over Timpview

Layton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost to the Timpview Thunderbirds at home by a 47-28 margin. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Thunderbirds are ranked ninth).

Layton lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kaymbree Henry, who posted six points. Another player making a difference was Taya Pace, who put up three points and three blocks.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Timpview to victory, but perhaps none more so than Malia Latu, who went 5 of 7 on her way to 12 points and six rebounds. Latu is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Lina Ballin, who had ten points in addition to six boards and six steals.

Layton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Timpview, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.

Layton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 44-26 loss against Bingham on the 12th. As for Timpview, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 63-59 victory against Skyridge on the 12th.
