Volleyball Recap: Encinal Jets vs. Rancho Cotate Cougars
Encinal and Rancho Cotate squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Encinal had to settle for second. They came up short against the Rancho Cotate Cougars, falling 3-0. The Jets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2017.
Encinal was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Rancho Cotate work for it, especially in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-17, 26-24.
Despite the loss, Encinal saw an underclassman step up: freshman Logan Chen had 12 digs. Chen has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more digs the last four times she's played.
With the defeat, Encinal broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-16. As for Rancho Cotate, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-13.
Encinal will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Sonoma Academy at 7:00 p.m. As for Rancho Cotate, they will venture away from home to square off against Vintage at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
