Basketball Game Preview: Coalfield Yellow Jackets vs. Wartburg Central Bulldogs

Coalfield and Wartburg Central are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Coalfield Yellow Jackets are taking a road trip to take on the Wartburg Central Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Coalfield is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Last Tuesday, Coalfield had to suffer through a 79-42 loss at the hands of Midway. The game marked the Yellow Jackets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

While Wartburg Central didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They secured a 41-37 W over Rockwood on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Coalfield now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Wartburg Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Coalfield came up short against Wartburg Central in their previous matchup back in January, falling 58-50. Can Coalfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
