Football Recap: Waynesville Comes Up Short

Waynesville scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took a blow against the Neosho Wildcats, falling 72-21. The Tigers lost against the Wildcats in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 42-20 score last time.

Neosho was led to victory by Keisean Rhone and Blayne Patterson. Rhone rushed for 277 yards and four scores on only ten carries, while Patterson rushed for 112 yards and one touchdown. Those 112 rushing yards gave Patterson a new career-high. Easton White was another key player, rushing for 58 yards and a pair of TDs.

Waynesville's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Neosho, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Waynesville didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-0 loss against Ozark on the 26th. As for Neosho, they have also already played their next matchup, a 46-43 defeat against Webb City on the 26th.
