Basketball Game Preview: Mesquite Wildcats vs. Arcadia Titans

Mesquite has gone 9-0 against Arcadia recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Mesquite Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Arcadia Titans at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Mesquite's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests.

Mesquite is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Desert Vista, who was ranked seventh at the time (Mesquite was ranked second). Mesquite walked away with a 59-46 win over Desert Vista on Monday.

Lucy Fisher and Navae Guidry were among the main playmakers for Mesquite as the former dropped a double-double on 24 points and 15 rebounds and the latter went 9 for 18 en route to 20 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. The game was Guidry's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Averi Mehlberg, who posted eight points.

Mesquite smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 20 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 50-21, which was the final score in Arcadia's tilt against St. Mary's on Friday. The Titans haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Arcadia's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Mesquite, they pushed their record up to 18-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Everything came up roses for Mesquite against Arcadia when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the team secured an 83-44 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Arcadia's Tianna Knighton, who went 14 of 16 on her way to 38 points and eight boards.
