Football Game Preview: Lemont Lemont HS vs. Thornton Fractional North Meteors

Lemont has gone a perfect 10-0 against Thornton Fractional North recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Lemont HS will be playing in front of their home fans against the Meteors at 7:30 p.m. Lemont will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.

Lemont is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Thornton Fractional South 56-6 on Friday. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-6.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Andrew Ascolani and Aiden Rudman. Ascolani rushed for 145 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight carries while Rudman rushed for 84 yards and three scores. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Rudman a new career-high. Mike Preuss was another key player, throwing for 182 yards and two TDs while completing 75% of his passes.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Lemont proved: they limited Thornton Fractional South to a paltry 1.8 yards per carry. The team can thank Jackson Dybcio for the heroic effort on defense: he. Lemont didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged nine.

Meanwhile, Thornton Fractional North hadn't done well against Bremen recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, the Meteors made off with a 21-20 victory over the Braves.
