Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for East Laurens

East Laurens waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Montgomery County Eagles with a sharp 15-8 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-1 on Wednesday.

Cade Oliver was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases. He has become a key player for East Laurens: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 7-13 otherwise.

In other batting news, East Laurens got a massive performance out of Konner Oneal, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three RBI. Oneal also scored two runs, which is notable because the Falcons are 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Nollan Scott, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.

East Laurens' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-14. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Montgomery County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-19.

Looking ahead, East Laurens will take on Northeast at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.48 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of. Montgomery County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
