Softball Recap: River Ridge Takes a Loss

If River Ridge was feeling good fresh off their 11-1 takedown of Zephyrhills on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Royal Knights fell just short of the Wesley Chapel Wildcats by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Royal Knights of the 9-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

River Ridge saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paityn Vanfossen, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

With the defeat, River Ridge broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-7. As for Wesley Chapel, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-6.

Looking ahead, River Ridge will challenge Berkeley Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wesley Chapel, they will take on Steinbrenner at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight.
