Basketball Recap: Ava Corsmeier's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fayetteville-Perry over Minford

Fayetteville-Perry was the 43-26 winner over Minford when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Fayetteville-Perry Rockets fell 50-38 to the Minford Falcons on Saturday. The game marked the Rockets' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Several Rockets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ava Corsmeier, who posted six points. Those six points gave Corsmeier a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Baker, who had eight points.

Fayetteville-Perry's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 14-3. As for Minford, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4.

Fayetteville-Perry and Minford should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Fayetteville-Perry (ranked 135th) will meet West Union (ranked 511th) at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Fayetteville-Perry is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.5 points per game this season. Similarly, Minford will take on South Webster at 7:30 p.m. on Monday up 564 places (140 vs. 704).
