Soccer Game Preview: Bluefield vs. James Monroe

The Bluefield Beavers will head out to challenge the James Monroe Mavericks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Saturday just wasn't the day for Bluefield's offense. They came up short against Braxton County on Saturday, falling 10-0. While losing is never fun, Bluefield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 64th, while Braxton County are ranked 20th).

Meanwhile, James Monroe also failed to score in their most recent game. They lost 10-0 to PikeView on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for James Monroe in their meetings with PikeView: they've now lost five in a row.

Bluefield's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7-1. As for James Monroe, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.

Bluefield beat James Monroe by a goal in their previous meeting back in September, winning 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Beavers since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
