Baseball Recap: Bear Creek Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Bear Creek proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by ten) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Weston Ranch Cougars 16-15. With that win, the Bruins brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Jaxson Bayani and Tyler Gilbert did most of the damage at the plate: Bayani got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI, while Gilbert scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs Bayani has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Jackson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Bear Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 11.6.

Bear Creek's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-9. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.5 runs. As for Weston Ranch, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.

Coming up, Bear Creek will challenge Tokay at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Weston Ranch, they will host Sierra at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
