Softball Recap: DuBois Central Catholic Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against DuBois, DuBois Central Catholic was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Johnsonburg Rams. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-0 back in April.

Rylee Kulbatsky was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maggie Mauthe, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

DuBois Central Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The victory got DuBois Central Catholic back to even at 7-7. As for Johnsonburg, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. DuBois Central Catholic will head out to square off against Kane at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cardinals are facing the Wolves at the right time seeing as the Wolves are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Johnsonburg, they will head out on the road to take on Redbank Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
