Soccer Game Preview: Scituate vs. North Providence

The Scituate Spartans will face off against the North Providence Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Scituate comes in on five and North Providence on nine.

On Tuesday, Scituate made easy work of Smithfield and carried off an 8-1 victory. Scituate might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by three goals or more this season.

Their offense was hitting Smithfield from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Jason Bettez led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, North Providence faced Pilgrim in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Cougars never let the Patriots get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. North Providence's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last five contests.

North Providence's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Scituate, their win bumped their record up to 12-1-2.

Scituate came out on top in a nail-biter against North Providence when the teams last played back in September of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
