Volleyball Recap: Groton Takes a Loss

After flying high against Roncalli last Thursday, Groton came back down to earth. The Tigers came up short against the Clark/Willow Lake Cyclones on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cyclones apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Groton was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-23, 25-14.

Taryn Traphagen paced Groton's offense, picking up eight kills. Traphagen got some help from Chesney Weber and her 21 assists. Weber was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Groton's loss dropped their record down to 5-1. As for Clark/Willow Lake, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.

Groton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Castlewood on the 20th. As for Clark/Willow Lake, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Deuel on the 25th.
