Soccer Game Preview: Monterey vs. Coronado

Monterey is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will be playing at home against the Coronado Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Monterey came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Wimberley, falling 5-1.

Meanwhile, Coronado fell victim to West Plains and their airtight defense on Saturday. They lost 8-0 to Wolves.

Monterey has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Coronado, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Monterey skirted past Coronado 1-0 in their previous meeting back in February of 2025. Will the Plainsmen repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
