Basketball Game Preview: Centerville Bulldogs vs. Union County Patriots

The Centerville Bulldogs will challenge the Union County Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Centerville will be strutting in after a win while Union County will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Friday, Centerville was fully in charge, breezing past Cambridge City Lincoln 75-46. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 20 points or more this season.

Centerville's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Ethan Vecera, who shot 50% from the field en route to 11 points along with eight assists and five boards, and Shea Hollendonner, who went 7-for-10 to rack up 18 points. What's more, Hollendonner also posted a 70% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jace Hollendonner, who posted 11 points and six assists.

Meanwhile, Union County suffered their biggest loss since December 20, 2024 on Friday. They had to suffer through a 75-38 loss at the hands of Milan. The Patriots haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Centerville is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points over those games. Union County now has a losing record of 11-12.

Centerville strolled past Union County in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 60-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for Centerville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
