Baseball Game Preview: Franklin Monroe Jets vs. Benjamin Logan Raiders

The Franklin Monroe Jets will venture away from home to square off against the Benjamin Logan Raiders at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Franklin Monroe will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Monday, then bounced right back against Mississinawa Valley on Tuesday. The Jets blew past the Blackhawks 22-1. That 21 run margin sets a new team best for the Jets this season.

Chase Stebbins made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-5. Franklin Monroe is undefeated when Stebbins posts two or more runs, but 0-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, Landon Osborn was a standout: he scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ty Riffle, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.

Franklin Monroe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mississinawa Valley only posted an OBP of .333.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Benjamin Logan, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against North Union by a score of 9-4 on Wednesday.

Benjamin Logan's win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-2. As for Franklin Monroe, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-4.

Franklin Monroe came up short against Benjamin Logan when the teams last played back in April of 2023, falling 7-4. Can the Jets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
