Football Recap: Hueytown Finds Playoff Glory Versus Pelham + How To Watch

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Hueytown walked away with it. They came out on top against the Pelham Panthers by a score of 35-28 on Friday. That's more bragging rights for the Golden Gophers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

A big part of Hueytown's victory came down to the chemistry between Jaedyn Powell and his top target Quentrell Jackson. Powell threw for 126 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes while Jackson picked up 135 receiving yards and one score. Those 126 passing yards gave Powell a new career-high.

Hueytown didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Pelham to a completion percentage of just 45%. The Golden Gophers weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 72%.

Pelham lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Tristen Rutledge, who rushed for 172 yards and one TD. Another player making a difference was Marcus Arnold, who picked up 121 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Hueytown now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Pelham, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Hueytown will challenge Russell County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Golden Gophers surely won't give up without a fight. Pelham does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
