Southeast Guilford is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Friday. After each having a week off, they and the Eastern Guilford Wildcats will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Southeast Guilford didn't have too much trouble with Glenn as they won 34-20. The Falcons pushed the score to 27-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bobcats cut but never quite recovered from.

One reason for the win was Southeast Guilford's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Amir Lyles and Janeel Folkes, who racked up four sacks between them. Lyles has been hot, having also posted five or more total tackles the last six times he's played. Southeast Guilford got some further help from Terrance Norwood: he picked up a sack and made 11 total tackles.
Meanwhile, while Eastern Guilford put up plenty of points last Friday, the same can't be said for Orange. The Wildcats took their contest with ease, bagging a 35-0 victory over the Panthers. That 35 point margin sets a new team best for the Wildcats this season.
Southeast Guilford better focus on containing Javion Majette and Tyler Whaley-Melvin as the pair were huge in Eastern Guilford's win. Majette rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns, while Whaley-Melvin gained 141 total yards and two touchdowns. What's more, Whaley-Melvin posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in October of 2024.
Eastern Guilford now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Southeast Guilford, they now also have a winning record of 3-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Southeast Guilford has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 263 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Eastern Guilford struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 163.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Southeast Guilford strolled past Eastern Guilford in their previous matchup back in March of 2021 by a score of 32-14. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Wildcats' Hezekia Newby, who rushed for 172 yards and a pair of scores.
