Recap: Bloomington North Cougars vs. Columbus East Olympians
A well-balanced attack led the Bloomington North Cougars over the Columbus East Olympians in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Bloomington North blew Columbus East out of the water with a 79-52 final score. Given Bloomington North's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while Columbus East is ranked 223rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bloomington North got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Luke Lindeman out in front who scored 25 points along with two steals. Lindeman has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor O'guinn, who scored 21 points.
Despite the loss, Columbus East saw an underclassman step up: Keaton Lawson scored 19 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Anthony Cowan, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Bloomington North has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. As for Columbus East, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bloomington North and Edgewood will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Bloomington North is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 60.8 points per game this season. As for Columbus East, they and Brownstown Central will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Columbus East is coming into the contest with six straight defeats on the road, meaning Brownstown Central will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win.
