Volleyball Game Preview: Archbishop Mitty Monarchs vs. Clovis East Timberwolves

Archbishop Mitty is on a 16-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Clovis East is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Monarchs will host the Timberwolves at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Archbishop Mitty is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Everything went their way against Clovis as they made off with a 3-0 victory.

Archbishop Mitty never let Clovis on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-17, 25-23.

Meanwhile, Clovis East faced Harker in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Timberwolves narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Eagles 3-2.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (107-105) Clovis East actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 16-25, 25-21, 26-24, 15-12.

Archbishop Mitty is on a roll lately: they've won 22 of their last 23 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 39-2 record this season. As for Clovis East, their victory bumped their record up to 27-11.

Archbishop Mitty was able to grind out a solid win over Clovis East in their previous matchup back in April, winning 2-0. Will the Monarchs repeat their success, or do the Timberwolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
