Basketball Game Preview: North Edgecombe Warriors vs. Warren County Eagles

The North Edgecombe Warriors will face off against the Warren County Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Edgecombe knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Warren County likes a good challenge.

North Edgecombe is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing KIPP P: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that North Edgecombe blew KIPP P out of the water with an 81-14 final score. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Warren County unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They came up short against Vance County, falling 46-26. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

North Edgecombe will need focus on slowing down Amari Freeman, one of several Warren County players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 11 points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Warren County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

North Edgecombe pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 41.2 points. As for Warren County, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-6.

Everything came up roses for North Edgecombe against Warren County in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 65-34 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Warren County's Mariah Harris, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will North Edgecombe still be able to contain Harris? There's only one way to find out.
