Softball Game Preview: Kearns Cougars vs. Delta Rabbits

The Kearns Cougars will be taking part in a tournament against the Delta Rabbits at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Delta took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Kearns, who comes in off a win.

Kearns gave up the first runs last Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They skirted past Granger 9-8. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by just one run.

Stephani Serna was excellent, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits.

Kearns was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Granger only posted a batting average of .345.

Meanwhile, Delta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Canyon View, falling 20-0.

The win made it two in a row for Kearns and bumps their season record up to 2-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Delta, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Everything went Kearns' way against Delta in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Kearns made off with a 16-3 victory. Will Kearns repeat their success, or does Delta have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
