Baseball Recap: Hoggard Takes a Loss

Hoggard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the South Brunswick Cougars. The Vikings were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 8-6.

Hoggard got a good showing from Julian Guthrie, who struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Hoggard saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Bush, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Bair Kuneyl also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Hoggard's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for South Brunswick, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-9.

Hoggard didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against North Brunswick on the 8th. As for South Brunswick, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 9-0 loss against Laney on the 8th.
