Softball Recap: Hueytown Wins Going Away Against Mcadory

Hueytown hadn't done well against McAdory recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Golden Gophers put the hurt on the Yellowjackets with a sharp 13-1 win. The Golden Gophers not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 7th.

Bryanna Kemp made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Hueytown got a big performance out of Madison Smith, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. K Burch was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Hueytown's victory bumped their record up to 15-10. As for McAdory, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-7-1.

Coming up, Hueytown will take on Bessemer City at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Golden Gophers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 10.4 runs per game this season. As for McAdory, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Mortimer Jordan at 2:00 p.m. The Blue Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.56 runs per game on average), something the Yellowjackets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
