Baseball Game Preview: Gilbert Yellowjackets vs. Derby Red Raiders

Gilbert hasn't had much luck against Derby recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Yellowjackets will head out on the road to challenge the Red Raiders at 5:30 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Gilbert is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 19th straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They came up short against Shepaug Valley, falling 12-0.

Meanwhile, Derby was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 11-0 to St. Paul Catholic.

Derby's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Gilbert, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Gilbert couldn't quite get it done against Derby when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-0. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
