Reno is 9-1 against Damonte Ranch since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Huskies will host the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m.
Reno heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Wednesday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Spanish Springs. Surprisingly, this marked the third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Meanwhile, Damonte Ranch never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Douglas with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Mustangs have beaten the Tigers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Tigers has come to flipping the script.
Kolten Matter tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Damonte Ranch is 6-1 when Matter allows two or fewer earned runs, but 9-10-1 otherwise.
At the plate, Spencer Dietz and Russell Stanley did most of the damage at the plate: Dietz went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Stanley went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ike Bross, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Damonte Ranch always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Douglas only posted an OBP of .211.
Reno's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-10. As for Damonte Ranch, their win bumped their record up to 15-11-1.
Reno was able to grind out a solid victory over Damonte Ranch in their previous matchup back in April, winning 9-4. Will the Huskies repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
