Baseball Recap: Payton College Prep's Run of Four Straight Wins Now Over

Payton College Prep dropped their record down to 18-20 on Saturday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Simeon Wolverines. The Grizzlies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolverines apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Max MacKenzie made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Payton College Prep's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-2 (and 13-18 when he doesn't).

As for Simeon, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-12-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

On Simeon's side, Antwan Jackson was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Cavion Danley, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As of now, neither Payton College Prep nor Simeon have any future games scheduled.
