Basketball Game Preview: Woodlawn Cardinals vs. Edwards County Lions

A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cardinals challenge the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Woodlawn is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They had just enough and edged Webber out 49-46. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cardinals have posted since January 13, 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Woodlawn to victory, but perhaps none more so than Andrea Kibler, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 steals. The dominant performance gave Kibler a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Sophia Skinner, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine boards.

Meanwhile, Edwards County blew past Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine, posting a 66-29 victory. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 25 points or more this season.

Woodlawn has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.6 points over those games. As for Edwards County, their record now sits at 15-8.
